India is preparing for the grand inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for January. The ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ or consecration ceremony for the idol of Ram Lalla will occur on January 22 at the temple. The architectural design of the temple is credited to a team led by the renowned architect Chandrakant Sompura. Hailing from a family with a heritage of temple architects, Sompura is the 15th generation in his family dedicated to designing temple structures, and his grandfather, PO Sompura, designed the restored Somnath Mandir in Gujarat in 1949.
